Summer Fun!

Melba Old Tyme 4th of July 2011
This year's Independence Day brought in the entire Zeyer family. We enjoyed 4 days for our family reunion and even made an appearance in the Melba Old Tyme 4th of July Parade. Hyrum's brother Aaron toted the entire family around for the parade and on the first turn blew out the sound system with
"God Bless America." We tried singing as a group, but it just wasn't quite the same.

Although I didn't get to see it. Hyrum did a fabulous job corrdinating roughly 50 scouts and cub scouts to lead the Parade, all held flags as they escorted Major Bernard F. Fisher USAF--the 1966 Medal of Honor Mission recipiant. Click here for more information on Mr. Fisher.

We also welcomed our good friends the Richardsons from WA. Welcome to the Farm!!! What a treat it was to have the family in town. We enjoyed tractor rides, 4-wheeler rides, hot hot hot weather, and snow cones. Julie and I ran the 10k together the morning of the 4th. What a great event! I had to slow down on mile 4 and held back from Julie's pace, but I ran the entire 10k, 6.2 miles in the bag, Wahoo!!!

The 4th also brought Aaron's big rig for rock crawling. I'm amazed he built this entire toy. I guess it's like any boy's dream of Tonka Trucks multiplied by 100 and brought to a reality.

Prior to the 4th we had great fun with Tad, Kristin and their 3 kids who came home to Melba for a visit. We spent the days taking care of kids at the park, swimming, keeping Owen off Carter, I think the bottom right picture says it all, and just hanging out. Oreo cookies anyone?

June brought joy and sadness. The joy was that I came home to spend a week with my family!
My Mom & Dad spoiled the grandkids with a blow up pool and Owen had no problem crawling face first into it. He gasped as he crawled along and water splashed in his face, but he was all smiles. This kid is FEARLESS!!!! He loves the water, drinks it, splashes in it, and crys everytime I take him out.
Cousin Bailey is the cuttest when she paddles her feet back and forth. What a darling little girl!

Just baby talk.

Dad had a great time showing Owen a new toy.

As mentioned earlier, June brought joy and sadness. The sad news was that My Grandpa Hadley passed away. He was 93 years old and very ready to end mortality. Often he joked that he just wanted to get out of here and wished he never called 911 when he had a heart attack a few years ago. My Grandma passed away 7 years ago and I know he missed her very much. It was a great funeral and neat to see the Combined Retired Veterans give Grandpa a gun salute at the cemetery. Rest in peace Grandpa!

The End.
