Labor Day Weekend 2011

Hurray, I love it when Mom and Dad visit- as Owen has two more constant compaions who dote over him. He loved all the attention, and I loved having a break from house cleaning, cooking, and chasing after Owen. Thank you Mom and Dad! Can't Grandma and Grandpa come every weekend!?

Here's a re-cap on the weekend.

Friday night we ate at Bardenay's Grill and Distillery. It was a perfect night for eating outside and Owen made friends with the two gentlemen sitting next to us getting their fill on unique beers. We got our fill on sweet potatoe fries. YUMMY!
Saturday we hung out, Owen woke up early and then woke up Grandma from her mid-day nap, and we tried teaching Owen how to carry his teddy bear in a new way and geared up for the BYU game.

Hmmm, maybe a little too much fabric?

Sunday was great- Owen did well during Sacrament and then hung out with Grandpa for the last two hours of church. Dad said he basically ran all over the place. No wonder he fell asleep the minute we put him in the car. We literaly live 5 minutes from the church and he was totally out by the time we got home!

After naps, it was off to a farm just 1/4 mile down the road from our house. They have at least 4 pigs, two of which recently had piglets. Its funny how cute things are when they're babies and just become disgusting when they're fully grown. The Mama pigs where HUGE! Hubba hubba-chubba, all I could think of was, "look how much bacon is walking around." Owen enjoyed starring at them and didn't quite know what to think, but made a funny grunting sound in the back of his throat-it worked though. He's recognizing what animals he sees and what noises they make.

Slice of cheese please; our little family.

After the farm we stayed outside in the shade and enjoyed chocolate fudge bars. Man, it was hot, we headed out about 4pm with the sun blazing in our eyes. Thankgoodness for a cold refreshment and one happy kiddo.

Monday was the ZOO! Not only was it our first time, but Owen experienced a couple other "firsts" as well.

First elephant spray.

First Date
........easy buddy eyes on the road

First rodeo imitation.

Aside from the tigers, lions, monkeys, and crazy other looking animals, the grand finale was the butterfly exhibit. WOW!!!! Butterflys from Costa-Rica were shipped to the Boise Zoo, we made it the very last day of the exhibit and it was well worth the extra $1. Butterflys were EVERYWHERE. As we entered the exhibit we were told that if one landed on you it meant you had good luck. Mom had three land on her. The rest of us didn't even come close. I'd like to think it was just the country chic Bath and Body Works lotion she used earler in the day. But, you know, luck could have something to do with it. Eithway, it was a great exhibit and we all throughoughly enjoyed it.

Thanks Mom and Dad for a great trip, and we'll see you in one month!

p.s. my fridge needs cleaning out, I think I'll just wait until you arrive..hint, hint.
