Independence Day Weekend

Melba Old Tyme 4th of July!

To start the parade we waived hello to Brent and Jane Zeyer, Citizens of the Year!
Brent's Father, Tad Zeyer, was the first Citizen of the Year in 1980, and now 30 years
later his son follows in his footsteps. Way to go Brent and Jane!
(side note, a big credit goes out to Jane for organizing the parade for more than 10 years running!)

"It needs tractors." Hyrum's comment one year at the Centerville, Utah parade.
I guess he's right, Melba's parade is packed with them!

Here's our crew who scampered for the candy.
Jackson, Jared, Annie, Tate, Angela & Nora.

THIS IS A FIRST!
Hot Dogs: grilled, wrapped, and toasty thrown from the passing parade.
Sadly this little dog didn't make it.

Nor did this "Dawg"

After the parade and a delicious BBQ at the Alders we headed back to the action for the
CHICKEN ROUNDUP
(Parents, you must try this at home!)

What a hoot!
These kids go crazy chasing the chickens. My favorite are the little tykes that run, run, run, with outstretched arms but are too scared to actually pick up the chicken. Then there's the kid who's not affraid of anything and completely tackles the chicken with full body contact.

Annie was the star!
She came home with a chicken she named Butterscotch in addition to having her picture on the front of the local newspaper the very next day.

But this little Chic had none-
Sorry, Nora, too little this year, but maybe Nanna will let you chase one of her chickens!

Hurray for the Melba Old Tyme 4th of July,
and a BIG hurray for the 75 degree weather!

Hey Allie! We were at the Melba parade and carnival too! Too bad we didn't run into each other. What a fun day:)

What fun! You know, we went to the Farmington Festival Days parade this morning and they had a whole bunch of tractors...Eli loved it! Perhaps Centerville SHOULD look into it. Hyrum is wise beyond his years... ;)
You look adorable!!!! Almost there!
